FUN WITH SOCIAL MEDIA – Ridiculously Simple!

A quick guide to utilizing social media with LoneStar Volleyball. Click the twitter or FB icon to go directly to your team’s pages. Members will receive an invitation through email to the team’s Shutterfly account.

What is Twitter?

Twitter was developed for friends, family & co-workers to communicate & stay connected through short typed updates. In short, it’s real-time blogging about what going on.

Twitter Quick Facts

• Restricted to only 140 characters or less
• You can post photos from your computer or your smartphone
• Twitter Apps are available for all “smartphones” & are generally FREE!
• It allows for posting updates, viewing others updates & follow others
• Reply publicly – to all your Twitter followers
• Reply with private direct messages that only person you follow or follows you may view
• Setting up an account is FREE!
• Maintaining an account…that’s up to you, but it’s FREE!

Setting Up An Account

• Go to www.twitter.com
• Fill out the required information
• Post team updates – practices, games, tournaments, take pics to post, highlight players (but don’t use players full names, just first initial and last name), fundraising opportunities, events involved in outside of the club, hobbies, etc.
• Tell your friends, family, teammates and co-workers about us!!

What is FaceBook?

Facebook is a social network service that allows family, friends and co-workers to interact, connect & share with each over the web.

FaceBook Tips

• Use your primary email to join Facebook so you receive email notifications.
• Be sure to set your privacy options
• Think carefully about public photos and information.
• Search for both people that are currently real life friends and people you have not seen in a while.
• Most importantly, have fun using Facebook

How To FaceBook?

Register- To register for FaceBook…go to www.facebook.com - enter your full name, your email address and password, hit enter & you’re in.

After you register, it is up to you to update your personal profile and status.

If you’re already on a member on FaceBook, go to “search” at the top of your home page, type in “LoneStar Volleyball” to find us. Find the “LIKE” button at the top of the page, click on it & you’re officially following us. You will receive posts on your FB page from us from time to time on events, announcements and updates, even a few fun things…correction lots of fun things!

What You Can Do On Our LSVB FB Page

• Comment on our posts that we put up regularly
• Post photos from the games, practices & team events
• Update us on the status of your team scores
• Brag about a player, coach or a team
• Sign up for events we might post throughout the year
• & just have fun!!!!

• Each LSVBC family will receive an invitation to join their team’s Shutterfly account.
• Follow the instructions in the invitation to join.
