Introducing, the LoneStar Coaching Family

Courtney-Moscovic

Courtney Moscovic

Hello! My name is Courtney Moscovic and this is my first season with LoneStar. I was born and raised in Colorado and spent the majority of my time living in Littleton. I was a multi-sport athlete from the time I could walk, participating in everything from volleyball and soccer to gymnastics and dance. I attended my first official volleyball camp when I was about 10 years old and haven’t turned back.

I was fortunate enough to have a supportive family and amazing coaches throughout my volleyball career. I was a setter at Chatfield Senior High School in Littleton, Colo. but switched to libero during my senior club season as I am… well, vertically challenged in the height department. I played for Tom Paszko at Juggernaut Volleyball and attended elite level setting camps with Sports Performance in Illinois.

I walked on to the division one volleyball team at San Diego State University where I red-shirted my freshman year and played as a defensive-specialist, serving-specialist, and libero until I graduated in Dec. 2009. I moved to Texas in January of 2010 and quickly learned that I needed a new volleyball club in my life. I got connected to LoneStar through my two sister-in-laws, Lauren Moscovic Minyard and Jenna Moscovic Fossum who were both elite-level setters at University Florida and Texas A&M respectively. I helped them run a summer camp and realized that LoneStar is an amazing organization that will do amazing things for the game of volleyball.

You’ll probably see me with every team on every court throughout the season as I am assisting whoever needs me. I tend to focus on the setters as they are truly the “quarterbacks” of the game and have to be the smartest, fastest and most dedicated players on the team. I also work full time as a Senior Account Executive for Fleishman-Hillard, an international communications and public relations firm in Dallas. Chad, my husband, is a golf professional at Eldorado Country Club and we live in McKinney with our new golden retriever puppy, Wally.

Introducing, the LoneStar Coaching Family

Madison Barr

Hello!  My name is Madison Barr, and I am currently finishing my last season at the University of North Texas. I was born outside of St. Louis, Missouri and shortly after moved to Southlake, Texas. I have lived in Texas for the past 11 years, and started playing volleyball as soon as I got to Texas!

I have been playing volleyball over 10 years and have trained in many different volleyball programs under many different coaches. I was the captain of my high school varsity volleyball team, played at Texas Advantage Volleyball Club and participated in USA High Performance programs. I have trained under multiple coaches while going to college camps and playing club volleyball, as well as at the collegiate level. At Eastern Illinois University, I played on an athletic scholarship before transferring to University of North Texas where I will graduate in December with a degree in Political Science.

My favorite club experience was competing for the finals my 17's year for the Junior Olympics under Ben Kubik. We were playing in the championships at the Lone Star qualifier, and our Libero's nose broke during the match when she and I collided. Despite her injury... it was our best passing game of the season and we ended up qualifying for nationals where we ended up 3rd place.  Iironically, she and I both made the all-tournament team. I learned the most about competing and teamwork that year and made some of the best friends that I still have today!

LoneStar Volleyball gives the same things to our athletes that I got out of my club experiences- teammates that became best friends, competitions that turn into memories and coaches that are life long mentors! Because 5 years from now, the wins and losses don't matter, only the lessons we learned and the people who made the journey with us remarkable!

LoneStar Volleyball become my club family earlier this year when I joined the LoneStar 13s Freeman team as they trained for Nationals.  Over the summer, I've trained athletes in Academy, LoneStar Select, Skills and Circuit and in our summer camps.  I have really enjoyed working with the kids that have come through our program, and look forward to announcing my club team assignment very soon!
