Hi, my name is Sarah Willey. I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. I started playing volleyball when I was 13, 7th grade year. It wasn’t until my junior year of high school that I started playing competitive club volleyball and started training with Jeff Sanders – Harvey’s brother, the assistant at Wichita State University. I was very lucky to be able to walk on as a libero at the University of North Texas in 2008. I was a four year starter at UNT and currently sit second place in the record books for total career digs. I am going to school to be a high school math teacher. I will graduate UNT in the spring of 2012. My high point of my volleyball career is playing collegiate volleyball at the Division 1 level. I got a late start in developing my skills and was not highly recruited out of high school. UNT was my only Division 1 choice and I am very grateful that I was given the chance to play for the Mean Green. I think that it is important for the girls I coach to have a goal and a dream and to never give up. Hard work, and coachability can get you very far.
