Introducing, the LoneStar Coaching Family
Rachelle Wilson
HI! My name is Rachelle Wilson and this will be my first season coaching at LoneStar. I was born in Plano, Texas, and after moving to a few different cities, my family finally settled on Aledo, Texas. I grew up there and was fortunate to be apart of a great volleyball program. It was in that program where my love for volleyball really began to take off.
I have been playing volleyball for ten years and have been blessed to be apart of several different programs. I was the captain of my high school teams (JV and Varsity) and got to see my team make it to the Regional Finals my Junior and Senior year. I played at Texas Advantage Volleyball for two years and after graduating high school, I went on to play at Iona College where I received many accolades, including the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s Rookie of the Year. After my freshman season, I transferred to the University of North Texas where I was coached under LoneStar coach, Harvey Sanders. I just finished my career at UNT and will graduate in December with a degree in Spanish and Arabic.
It’s hard to pick just one favorite club experience- all of my memories are some of the best times in my life. But, when we were competing at the Baltimore qualifier my 17s year, we had to beat a team from Hawaii in order to go into the gold bracket. They were picked to win the entire tournament, and five matches later, TAV came out with the win! We worked so hard together and probably lost our tempers at some points, but at the end of the match, we all knew that we had competed and done our best for each other- and that was something to be proud of. We went on that year to win 3rd at Nationals, and I’ll never forget it!
I became a part of LoneStar through Harvey Sanders and through my teammate, Madison Barr. I’ve watched Madison enjoy coaching over the past year and have only heard great things. I’m so excited in joining LoneStar and making new club memories for myself and for the who play with our club family. It’s going to be a great season, and I cannot wait!
