SKILLS & TRAINING
LoneStar Volleyball Academy
Hosting 1st through 8th grades, Novice to Limited Experience
As the first step in our core training curriculum, LoneStar Volleyball Academy training program is designed to train novice to moderately experienced volleyball athletes. With professional coaches leading the way, athletes receive a strong foundation of technical mechanics and tactical skills. Our highly experienced coaching staff consists of former and/or current collegiate coaches, collegiate scholarship athletes and club coaches.
Each training session of the program will be dedicated to learning or enhancing knowledge of one or two skills.  Athletes will begin in a group instructional environment and will then be divided into small groups based on skill level and experience rather than only by age or grade.  This will allow our coaches to build skills for beginners and enhance the skills of advanced athletes.  With this process in place, we will be able to train each athlete on each skill at their level.  We will maintain proper game modifications including ball weight and net height, but all other grouping will be based on the skill training done that evening.  Each training session will end with small group games (2s, 3s, or 4s).
This protocol will allow us to advance the skills of each athlete.  Great setters who may not be great attackers will get advanced setter training on the setting night, but will then get beginning attacking work on the attacking night.  The sessions will progress from Serving, Passing, Attacking to Setting.
Academy provides newer volleyball athletes with a unique training experience utilizing skills that are inherent to the game of volleyball.
